The initiative builds on the earlier <strong>NeuroArtP3<\/strong> project, coordinated by the IRCCS Policlinico San Martino Hospital in <strong>Genoa<\/strong> and co-funded by the Ministry of Health, in which the <strong>Autonomous Province of Trento, the local healthcare authority, and<\/strong> <strong>Fondazione Bruno Kessler<\/strong> participated<br \/>\nOn the proposal of Health and Social Policies Councillor <strong>Mario Tonina<\/strong>, the Provincial Council approved funding of <strong>\u20ac300,000<\/strong> for the project. Primed-PD 2025 will be conducted by the Trento Province Healthcare System <strong>(now Asuit)<\/strong>, which will also serve as coordinating body, with the involvement of<strong> Fondazione Bruno Kessler, CIBIO\/CISMed at the University of Trento, and support from the Competence Center on Digital Health, TrentinoSalute4.0.<\/strong><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-7957 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/trentinosalutedigitale.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Pexels-cottonbro-5493781_imagefullwide-300x270.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"270\" srcset=\"https:\/\/trentinosalutedigitale.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Pexels-cottonbro-5493781_imagefullwide-300x270.jpg 300w, https:\/\/trentinosalutedigitale.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Pexels-cottonbro-5493781_imagefullwide-1024x922.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/trentinosalutedigitale.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Pexels-cottonbro-5493781_imagefullwide-768x692.jpg 768w, https:\/\/trentinosalutedigitale.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Pexels-cottonbro-5493781_imagefullwide.jpg 1170w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"content-main body-comunicato\">\n<div class=\"figure image\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cParkinson\u2019s disease is one of the most significant challenges facing health systems today, not only because of its growing prevalence but also due to its profound impact on quality of life, families, and the overall sustainability of healthcare,\u201d\u00a0 said Councillor <strong>Tonina<\/strong>. \u201cIt <strong>is the second most common neurodegenerative disease after Alzheimer\u2019s<\/strong>, with steadily rising numbers. This reality calls for moving beyond traditional models of care, as the rising incidence can no longer be explained solely by population aging but also reflects environmental factors and lifestyle changes. Joining the Primed-PD <strong>2025 project is therefore<\/strong> an important step to strengthen <strong>clinical research.<\/strong> Expanding <strong>patient enrollment<\/strong> and leveraging established procedures will further refine algorithms capable of predicting clinically relevant events\u2014such as falls, motor fluctuations, or cognitive impairment\u2014improving the ability to intervene in a timely and targeted way.&#8221; the Councillor concluded.<\/p>\n<p>Developed over <strong>36 months<\/strong>, the project will use data already available within the Trento Province Healthcare System in innovative ways to improve prediction of<strong> Parkinson\u2019s disease<\/strong> progression and the onset of major complications. Within a predictive and personalized medicine framework, the study aims to develop AI-based tools to support earlier and more targeted patient care, helping to improve both quality of care and health-service planning.
