Stefano Forti is nearing the end of his tenure as director of the FBK Research Center for <em>Digital Health and Wellbeing<\/em>, part of TrentinoSalute4.0.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, the Foundation has opened a call for applications for a new director, with submissions accepted until August 20.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>(G.R., FBK) Within FBK&#8217;s 12 Research Centers\u2014established under the Foundation\u2019s new organizational model\u2014the <a href=\"https:\/\/digitalhealthcenter.fbk.eu\/\">Center for Digital Health &amp; Wellbeing<\/a> focuses on advancing proactive, predictive, personalized, participatory, and precision medicine.<\/p>\n<p>The Center&#8217;s mission is to conduct pioneering research in two key areas of healthcare:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The development and application of ICT and AI to support\u00a0<strong>preventive measures<\/strong>, thereby contributing to the overall wellbeing of the population;<\/li>\n<li>The use of ICT and AI tools to<strong>\u00a0manage chronic conditions<\/strong>, such as cancer and Parkinson\u2019s disease.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A key objective of the Center is to build a robust ecosystem of multimodal data that integrates clinical, genetic, and environmental information. This ecosystem will drive research and innovation in AI-supported<strong> healthcare<\/strong>. Priority areas include the development of\u00a0<strong>predictive AI models, large language models, and multimodal tool-based systems<\/strong> designed to support patients, clinicians, and caregivers in managing chronic diseases. Equally important is the use of AI to enhance primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention strategies, ultimately improving population health and wellbeing. Given that digital medicine and artificial intelligence are poised to become vital tools for addressing the future challenges of the National Health System (NHS), the Center also aims to foster a paradigm shift\u2014&#8221;culturally&#8221;, in addition to technologically, and organizationally. The strategic goal of the <strong>Center for Digital Health &amp; Wellbeing<\/strong>\u00a0is to ensure its research generates both local and national impact. This activity is carried out through\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/trentinosalutedigitale.com\/en\/\">TrentinoSalute <\/a><\/strong>4.0, a competence center launched in 2018 as a <em>partnership<\/em> among the Autonomous Province of Trento, the Trentino Health System, and FBK, formalizing a long-standing collaboration among the partners.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cFondazione Bruno Kessler has the tools and expertise to act as a catalyst for this innovation process, involving all healthcare stakeholders\u2014citizens, volunteer associations and schools, healthcare professionals, policymakers, healthcare managers, and professional health associations,\u201d <\/em>said <strong>Stefano Forti<\/strong>, the current Director of the Center, who will conclude his mandate at the end of the year.<\/p>\n<p><em>Within this vision, the TrentinoSalute 4.0 competence center provided the institutional framework that enabled FBK to assume a central and distinctive role\u2014both in Italy and across Europe\u2014in implementing this ecosystem, leveraging the core characteristics embedded in its DNA as a Research and Technology Organization (RTO)<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The new Director will be expected to provide both<strong> scientific <\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>managerial<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0<strong><em>leadership<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0in a collaborative and high-value research environment. Candidates should possess a strong and recognized scientific reputation, coupled with proven managerial capabilities and strategic vision. The Director will oversee research activities and initiatives aimed at delivering social and market impact in the fields of health and wellbeing. This includes managing the entire innovation pipeline\u2014from scientific and technological development to proof of concept and clinical application.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Applications are open until August 20, 2025.
