A symbolic ribbon cutting ceremony, lively and well attended, at the Sports Festival’s TrentinoSalute4.0 stand at the Sport Tech District in the Muse park in front of the Albere building this morning.

Councilor Stefania Segnana started off the first treasure hunt involving a group of seniors from the “Contrada Larga” Day Center in Via Belenzani, who, accompanied by the operators of Cooperativa Kaleidoscopio, smartphones at hand, took part in the initiative.

“The Sports Festival – said Segnana – with this initiative does not target young people only and does not deal with competitive sports only, but targets older adults with the aim of encouraging group activities. Practicing sports and staying active helps, as it favors active aging and puts off moving to an assisted living facility or a nursing home. Promoting healthy lifestyles is a benefit for the entire community. As a Government Department, we aim to ensure that the elderly are – as in this case – active protagonists, not passive ones. The treasure hunt therefore aims to encourage socialization and promote a more in-depth touring of the most evocative corners of our capital city”.

With cell phones in hand and active GPS, the participants left with enthusiasm in search of the geocaches (i.e. the stages) located in Trento’s historic district and in the areas sorrounding it. There were four routes available, different by length, walking time, theme. A time commitment of about one and a half hours to complete the route that received positive feedback from the participants.

The initiative was organized by TrentinoSalute 4.0, the PAT Department of Health and the Department of Health, Social Policies and Family, in cooperation with Fondazione Bruno Kessler and the Trento Province Healthcare System.
