Digital health: agreement with the Emilia Romagna Region

03/05/2021 By

The Provincial Council, on the proposal of councilor Stefania Segnana, approved the Protocol on Monday

We are moving along the road to a community where to develop shared actions in the field of digital health: after the Protocol with Umbria, the Trento province Council, on the proposal of the councilor for health, social policies, disability and family, Stefania Segnana, approved the Memorandum of Understanding with the Emilia Romagna Region on May 3, 2021. The agreement aims to share a common vision on telemedicine and on the main models and tools already implemented locally, also in a logic of use, reuse and common development of solutions for the empowerment of citizens and health professionals.
“The TreC project has been active in Trentino for ten years now – councilor Segnana commented – and hs involved the Province, FBK and the Trento Province healthcare system through TrentinoSalute4.0, the Competence Center for digital health. With this protocol, we aim to share the skills gained and the technological and organizational solutions fielded so as to ensure economies of scale and mutually enhance good practices, with particular attention to new public health models, which will reinforce integration between hospitals and local communities, such as preventive medicine and personalized medicine”.

The Regions and Autonomous Provinces are committed to developing innovative models of territorial health care supported by new technologies that will allow for better patient care and treatment, ensurin equal access to the entire population. The health emergency we are experiencing has accelerated this process, pushing healthcare organizations to introduce virtual visits and telemedicine solutions to support health professionals and citizens, ensuring the necessary continuity of care.
A lot is being invested in Trentino on the TreC platform, which allows citizens to access online health services (Electronic Health Records, dematerialized health prescriptions, booking of visits, exams and appointments, Covid certificates, etc…) and offers access to virtual visits, telemedicine and telemonitoring services in an integrated way with the Healthcare organization’s IT systems, and allows where possible in this emergency period, to support first visits and follow-up care of patients remotely, directly at theirhomes.
The Emilia Romagna Region has developed the Sole (Sanità on line) platform which is the medical records network/solution that connects family doctors and pediatricians with the clinics and hospitals of the Emilia-Romagna Region. The portal, which uses the most advanced forms of multimedia communication, provides services and information exchange and is integrated with the citizens’ electronic health records.
The implementation of the Memorandum will be ensured in Trentino by the representatives of the Province, the Healthcare System, Fondazione Bruno Kessler and TrentinoSalute4.0, partly through the development of specific common projects on issues considered as priorities such as the Electronic Health Records (FSE), Privacy, Telemedicine services, Booking Center services and digital skills in health.
