Promoting health in the workplace: the “Key to Health” project

The conference «Health promotion in the workplace “Key to Health “, the province of Trento case» will be held Tuesday, November 19, 2019, at the Auditorium of the Center for Healthcare Services of the Trento Province healthcare System on via Verona.
The event, which will start at 8:45 a.m., has been organized as a wrap-up for the “Key to Health” project, carried out jointly by the Autonomous Province of Trento, the Trento Province Healthcare System, Fondazione Bruno Kessler and the National Institute for Work-related Accident Insurance, with the collaboration of the TrentinoSalute4.0 Competence Center. It will be opened by the greetings by the councilor for health, social policies, disability and family, Stefania Segnana, the general manager of the Province Health and Social Policies Department, Giancarlo Ruscitti, the general director of the Healthcare System, Paolo Bordon, the director of Inail Trento, Stefania Marconi and FBK secretary general Andrea Simoni.

The “Key to Health” project has set itself the goal of identifying a valid organizational model to promote healthy lifestyles in the workplace through the involvement of companies, occupational helth physicians, and workers. In a work environment that encourages workers to maintain or recover their well-being, thanks to professional guidance and a little bit of technological support, it is possible to prevent some of the most common chronic diseases (cardiovascular diseases and diabetes).
The conference will be an important opportunity to discuss the promotion of health in the workplace that falls under the label “Workplace Health Promotion” worldwide. In particular, the topics of organizational well-being, possible benefits and tax savings for companies will be examined in depth to the end of stressing the importance of developing strategies to motivate workers in the process of changing their lifestyles”.

The positive results of the experimentation of the “Key to Health” project will allow to highlight the outcome of the intervention model designed that will be available at no charge to organizations willing to implement it. Specific operational tools (handbook, website, training, etc.) will be posted on the Trentino Salute website.
The event will start at 8:45 a.m. with the greetings of the authorities. After that, a talk by Giorgio Gosetti, professor at the University of Verona will be addressing the topic of well-being in the workplace, while Valter Spiller will be presenting an in-depth study of the strategies to motivate workers. In the late morning, the “Key to Health” project, and some of its main results, will be presented. The morning will end with a round table discussion in which representatives of enterprises, trade unions and health prevention organizations based in Trentino will exchange views. (at/ml)
