BIG DATA AND ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN HEALTHCARE

29/09/2018 By

“Big Data and Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare” is the title of the talk that FBK researcher (TrentinoSalute 4.0) Venet Osmani held at the second national Telecardiology congress, on September 29 in Riva del Garda (TN).

Osmani presented his vision of the future use of Big Data in this industry in front of more than 100 cardiologists, general practitioners, cardiocirculatory physiopathology and cardiovascular perfusion technicians and nurses. “Nowadays” – Osmani said – “we are witnesses of an ever greater production – an avalanche – of data generated by people, especially those who are not sick. The solution for their effective use in healthcare is artificial intelligence methods. The risk is to end up “slamming” against the windmills”.
And digital health in the management of chronic patients was the topic of the talk by Dr. Claudio Dario, medical director of the Trento Province Healthcare Services, who voiced a strong need for change. “We need” – he said – “to steer from physical intermediation to digital intermediation”. In the interview, we asked him what this means.
